May, 2014
In May, the MSBA and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) co-sponsored a “Story of a Building” seminar at Maynard High School. Different panels composed of MSBA staff, school officials, construction professionals, and students presented on the various aspects of partnering with the MSBA to undertake a school construction project. The day-long seminar included segments on Maynard’s process to design the space to its education plan, engage the community toward passing the funding vote, and acclimate students and educators to the new “high tech” learning environment. A tour of the new school allowed participants to view the beautiful design and completed facility. MSBA staff members that presented include: Executive Director Jack McCarthy, Deputy Executive Director Barbara Hansberry, Director of Capital Planning Mary Pichetti, Director of Project Management John Jumpe, Senior Capital Program Manager Diane Sullivan, and Capital Program Manager Katie DeCristofaro.
We look forward to similar collaborations with the OIG. Check the MCPPO Program’s training schedule on the OIG website for future scheduling information. The OIG's June Procurement Bulletin included a highlight of the seminar, you can view the excerpts here.
