
Matthew Deninger, Ed.M., is a Senior Associate Commissioner at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). In this role, Matt works to support school districts in their efforts to enhance their use of resources to improve academic achievement for all students. Matt manages DESE’s functions related to strategic planning, research, federal grant programs, effective practices, monitoring, and compliance.
Mr. Deninger has a broad range of experience in education as a high school English teacher, athletics coach, researcher, and, at the Department, as a district liaison, policy analyst, project manager, performance management expert, and director.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree in Educational Policy and Management from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
