Our beloved colleague and friend Fred Beebe passed away this weekend. Fred has been an integral part of the MSBA for more than 10 years. It was truly a privilege to know and work with him. Many that knew him would say “nobody loved life as much as Fred.”

The Massachusetts School Building Authority Board of Directors met on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. At the meeting, the Board recommended eight more of the 26 Districts from the 2015 Statement of Interest process be invited into Eligibility Period. In addition, seven Districts, representing 13 projects were authorized to execute a Project Funding Agreement with the MSBA for the Accelerated Repair Program; one District was recommended to proceed to the Schematic Design phase; and one District was advanced to the Project Scope and Budget Phase. The Board also voted to approve the final audits and grant amounts of six projects: one Green Repair Program project, four Accelerated Repair Program projects, and one New Program project.
The MSBA has issued a new project advisory: Project Advisory 35. This advisory provides information on a new page that was created to support districts and educators in the exploration of concepts and options for proposed projects, the Educational Facility Planning page. The MSBA recognizes the importance of Educational Planning, especially as it relates to the effective planning, design, and construction of adaptable school facilities. Educational Planning will help inform school designs that are responsive to current teaching and learning practices, while providing flexibility to accommodate future changes in learning environments and educational delivery methods during the useful life of a school facility.
