MSBA Approves Final Audits of 15 Projects

11 districts benefited from MSBA projects with a total grant value of over $282M

State Treasurer and Receiver General Steven Grossman, Chairman of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), and Jack McCarthy, MSBA Executive Director, announced that the MSBA Board of Directors has approved final audits for 15 projects in 11 school districts, with a total grant value of over $282 million. The final audit stage is the last step in the MSBA building process and represents the successful completion and closeout of the projects.

“Every project undertaken by the MSBA is a step toward creating the 21st century learning infrastructure that every Massachusetts student deserves,” Treasurer Grossman said. “We are delighted to have brought these important investments in Massachusetts schools to a successful conclusion.”

The Board approved final audits of four projects inherited from the previous school building program, with a combined grant value of $240,461,418. Audits were also approved for eleven projects funded through the new grant program, with a combined grant value of $41,770,213. The total grant value of all audits approved by the MSBA Board was $282,231,631.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better success with these projects,” Executive Director McCarthy said. “The completion of these fifteen projects is a further testament to the success of the MSBA’s process of collaboration with Massachusetts school districts.”

The MSBA partners with Massachusetts communities to support the design and construction of educationally-appropriate, flexible, sustainable, and cost-effective public school facilities. Since its inception, the Authority has made $9.7 billion in reimbursements for school construction projects. These timely payments have saved municipalities over $2.9 billion in avoided local interest costs and have provided much needed cash flow to communities.
