Maureen Valente, Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), today joined state and local officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for a major addition and renovation project at Lincoln Street Elementary School. The MSBA is contributing a maximum total facilities grant of up to $10,407,408 towards the project.
Jack McCarthy, Executive Director of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), today joined state and local officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new North Middlesex Regional High School located in Townsend. The MSBA is contributing a maximum total facilities grant of up to $40,210,028 of eligible expenses towards the $89 million project.
The Massachusetts School Building Authority Board of Directors met on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. At the meeting, the Board voted to amend one District's Feasibility Study Agreement; two Districts were invited to conduct a Feasibility Study; 24 Districts, representing 44 projects were invited into the Accelerated Repair Program; two Districts were approved to proceed with their Preferred Schematic Designs; and two Districts were advanced to the Project Scope and Budget Phase. In addition, the Board also voted to approve the final audits and grant amounts of one Waiting List Program project and 10 New Program projects, including one Green Repair Program project, three Accelerated Repair Program projects, one addition/renovation project, and five new construction projects.
The 9th Annual "My Ideal School" contest was open to all first-grade students currently attending a Massachusetts public school. We received over 1,200 contest submissions from first graders across the Commonwealth and selected nine regional winners, one of which will be named the grand prize winner at our awards ceremony at the Massachusetts State House on May 27, 2015.
The MSBA is co-sponsoring again this year with the Office of the Inspector General, for the "Story of a Building" Seminar. This new on-site class immerses attendees in the story of a public building construction project from the beginning of the planning stages to the final stages, resulting in a building “coming to life.”
The MSBA has issued a new project advisory: Project Advisory 31. MSBA project advisories are designed as informational updates for Districts, Owner's Project Managers, and Designers in an effort to facilitate the efficient and effective administration of proposed projects currently pending review by the MSBA and/or projects with a Project Scope and Budget Agreement or Project Funding Agreement. This newest advisory provides information on an update to the MSBA’s Total Project Budget Template which is required for all projects moving forward.

The MSBA is seeking responses from qualified Owner’s Project Managers ("OPM"), interested in providing professional oversight, management, and construction administration services to eligible Massachusetts cities, towns, and regional school districts that have been invited to participate in the MSBA’s Accelerated Repair Program.
