Maureen Valente, Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), today joined state and local officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for a major addition and renovation project at Lincoln Street Elementary School. The MSBA is contributing a maximum total facilities grant of up to $10,407,408 towards the project.
“I am delighted to help break ground on this important project for the Town of Northborough!” Chief Executive Officer Valente said. “This project will create a better learning and teaching environment for the students and teachers of Lincoln Street Elementary and is another example of the commitment, collaboration and partnership that the MSBA has with districts.”
The project will construct a new 8,000 square-foot addition to the school and will renovate 45,000 square feet of the existing structure to support the District’s educational program. The current facility was built in 1965 and suffers from deficiencies in major building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and windows. Lincoln Street Elementary School serves 270 students in Kindergarten through grade 5.
The MSBA partners with Massachusetts communities to support the design and construction of educationally appropriate, flexible, sustainable and cost-effective public school facilities. Since its 2004 inception, the Authority has made over 1,600 site visits to more than 250 school districts as part of its due diligence process and has made over $11.3 billion in reimbursements for school construction projects.
