A Segment of MCPPO Spotlight on Schools, April 12 2022
(Buying products of any amount without bidding)
On April 12, 2022, the MSBA coordinated a procurement training segment of the MCPPO Spotlight on Schools series entitled: Spotlight on Procuring Supplies.
The training focused on explaining cooperative contracts, which provide an option for a school district and /or municipality to procure products of any dollar amount without advertising or writing a specification and in full compliance with Chapter 30B.
Attendees learned the authority in M.G.L. c. 30B to use cooperative contracts, the two types of cooperative contracts most popular and trusted in MA (Operational Services Division contracts and MHEC, formally known as the Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium, contracts), and recommended best practices. The Procurement Agent for the City of Peabody shared ideas on creating competition when using a cooperative contract for goods that have more than one vendor authorized to sell the product.
