MSBA Invites Wyman Elementary School in Woburn to Launch Feasibility Study

State Treasurer Steven Grossman, Chairman of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), and Jack McCarthy, MSBA Executive Director, announced today that the MSBA Board voted to move the Wyman Elementary School in Woburn forward in the MSBA capital pipeline. The Board has invited the District to collaborate on a Feasibility Study, which will look at possible solutions to the problems identified at the school.

“We are committed to working with Woburn officials to find the best alternative for Wyman Elementary School,” said Treasurer Grossman. “This collaboration will develop a cost-effective solution that ensures Woburn students can develop and flourish in a state-of-the-art, 21st century learning environment.”

“This Feasibility Study will carefully examine all potential solutions to help us develop the most effective plan,” stated Executive Director McCarthy. “We look forward to partnering with the District to move this project forward.”

The MSBA partners with Massachusetts communities to support the design and construction of educationally-appropriate, flexible, sustainable and cost-effective public school facilities. Since its inception in 2004, the Authority has made $9.9 billion in reimbursements for school construction projects. These timely payments have saved municipalities over $2.9 billion in avoided local interest costs and have provided much needed cash flow to communities.
