State Treasurer Steven Grossman, Chairman of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), and Jack McCarthy, MSBA Executive Director, today joined with local officials to break ground on the new J. Henry Higgins Middle School in Peabody. The MSBA will fund a maximum grant of up to $43,678,555 toward the project.
Massachusetts School Building Authority Executive Director Jack McCarthy today joined with local legislative and district leaders for the ceremonial ribbon cutting on the new Duxbury Middle/High School. The MSBA is contributing 45.13% of eligible expenses towards the $128,356,161 project, which was conducted as part of the MSBA’s Model School Program. The Model School Program incorporates successful elements from existing schools into the design of new facilities.

The MSBA is contributing 67.48% of eligible expenses towards the $82,383,618 project, which was conducted as part of the MSBA’s Model School Program. The Model School Program incorporates successful elements from existing schools into the design of new facilities.

The MSBA is contributing 55.61% of eligible expenses towards the $101,630,087 project, which was conducted as part of the MSBA’s Model School Program. The Model School Program incorporates successful elements from existing schools into the design of new facilities. Through this program, districts can streamline construction and utilize design dynamics already deemed successful by students, teachers and administrators.
The Massachusetts School Building Authority Board of Directors met on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. One District was removed from the Capital Pipeline, five Districts were invited to conduct Feasibility Studies, three Districts were advanced to the Schematic Design Phase, and three Districts were advanced to the Project Scope and Budget Phase.

The MSBA partnered with the Dukakis Institute at Northeastern to issue a report measuring the impact that the MSBA has had on the economy since our inception. We have helped create 10,000 jobs annually over the last 10 years and added $7.8 billion to the Massachusetts economy. The study, “The Economic Impact of MSBA Investments on the Massachusetts Economy,” assessed the direct and indirect economic benefits that have flowed to the state and its workers as a result of MSBA construction between 2005-2014 including state gross domestic output, employment, income, and state tax revenue. Noted economists Barry Bluestone and Alan Clayton Matthews co-authored the report.
Jack McCarthy, Executive Director of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), today joined with local officials to break ground on major renovations at Chicopee Academy. The MSBA is reimbursing 80% percent of eligible costs toward the $37.9 million upgrade at the school.
