Eight Winners to be honored at special State House ceremony
State Treasurer Steven Grossman, Chairman of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), and Jack McCarthy, Executive Director of the MSBA, are pleased to announce the eight winners of the 8th Annual “My Ideal School” Contest. The contest was open to all 1st grade students throughout the Commonwealth and was designed to promote a discussion between students and teachers about how to create effective learning facilities.
The Massachusetts School Building Authority Board of Directors met on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Three Districts were invited into the Eligibility Period, two Districts were invited to conduct Feasibility Studies, 51 schools were invited into the Accelerated Repair Program, one District was authorized to execute a Project Funding Agreement with the MSBA for the Accelerated Repair Program, and one District was advanced to the Project Scope and Budget Phase. In addition, the Board also voted to approve the final audits and grant amounts for 15 projects: 10 Green Repair Program projects, one addition/renovation project, three Accelerated Repair Program projects, and one new school project.

Jack McCarthy, Executive Director of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), today helped break ground on construction of the new Penn Brook Elementary School. The MSBA is reimbursing 54.76% percent of eligible costs toward the $46,169,400 school, which will serve 770 students from Kindergarten through grade 6.
